Building resilient systems, making cloud bills smaller, and keeping the music loud (until you find the mute button).
Scroll downThe background up there is the view I had from building H, of the physics course at UFF, in Praia Vermelha, Niterói: Rio across the bay, with Sugarloaf in the corner. I spent a lot of time staring at it.
These three places have a lot of me in them. Check the photos below and, right after them, some stats about these places.
Public data, refreshed every 10 minutes by an API I wrote in Go and monitor with Prometheus. It's all in the Observability section.

Public cameras from the three cities, switching every 10 seconds. Here the soundtrack makes room for the radio: CBN Rio, 24-hour news.

I haven't found an open public camera here yet. If you know one, tell me.

I'm an SRE/DevOps Engineer at Somos. My job is to make production systems hold up, get faster and cost less. And I like it: from the boring problem nobody wants to pick up, to leaving everything clean for whoever comes next.
I started in customer support, moved to integrations, then DevOps, and spent two and a half years as infrastructure manager running football club membership systems with thousands of users. That's why I get the problem from both sides: the people using it and the people keeping it up.
The result I like telling the most: I cut 50 to 80% off the AWS bill without hurting performance. In a lot of cases it actually got better.
A high cloud bill is a bug to me. Same as high latency. I'll keep digging until I find where the money is leaking.
Observability comes first. That's exactly why this site has a dashboard about itself.
This site, its infra, my blog and a 3D game set in Niterói: I built all of it. I'm not afraid of any layer.
When I find a bug or a wrong doc in software I use, I open the PR. I've had contributions merged at Vercel, Docker, Twelve-Factor, NvChad, Strapi and MDN.

I studied Physics at UFF and Information Systems at Unilasalle-RJ. I got the AWS Cloud Practitioner (2022) and Solutions Architect Associate (2023) certifications, and I keep studying on my own: Go and Python for SRE, observability, Elixir.

I work with observability, so it's only fair that my site shows its own numbers. Visits and speed come from Cloudflare. The city APIs are watched by a Prometheus I run myself on an EC2, with Grafana and Loki next to it.
I still miss you, but you remain with me—in the memories I keep and the thoughts I carry every day.

An idea for the future: a real shared deploy button. Someone presses it and the music stops for everyone for 15 minutes, just like a production incident. For now it's just an idea.
